NCFF has always been a "Green Event" but this year's festival will not be selling bottled water. CoolerZone water stations will be available to fill festival goer's reusable water bottles. Klean Kanteens with the NCFF logo will be available for purchase. These are eco-friendly, bpa-free stainless steel water bottles that are sustainable, clean tasting (hot or cold), and 100% recyclable.
NCFF has also partnered with the Bicycle Recycle Project to encourage
judges, filmmakers, panelists and other visitors to the festival to park
their cars and take a leisure bike ride through Nevada City on the way to
one of the many screenings and parties. This will help with traffic,
parking and provide visitors with an intimate experience of Nevada City.
Bicycle Recycle Project is a middle school program that teaches students,
the hands-on skills of bicycle building and repair. Finished bicycles are
donated to charitable organizations like Loaves & Fishes in Sacramento,
Sierra Nevada Children Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters, among others.
Since 1999, the program has trained over 500 students and built over 1500
